HELP WANTED – SUMMER EMPLOYMENT

General laborer for Palmerton Borough.  Applications may be obtained at 443 Delaware Avenue, Palmerton, Monday-Friday, 8:30-4:30.  Applications will be accepted until April 10, 2026. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.         Receive daily assignments to maintain grounds, paths, and roadways according to weather and facility’s maintenance schedule.

2.         Uses power tools to trim hedges and cut off dead tree limbs.  Conducts litter patrol in assigned area, removes trash and places in facility truck.

3.         Picks up trash from barrels in assigned areas and keeps assigned non-cultivated areas in a neat and orderly fashion.

4.         Performs daily assigned duties, including but not limited to, lawn mowing, painting, and road maintenance.

QUALIFICATIONS

1.         Must be a steady reliable worker.

2.         Must have sufficient reading ability to understand simple instructions, schedule, safety warnings, and product labels.

3.         Must be able to perform simple tasks independently after being given assignments.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES

1.         Must have sufficient strength and manual dexterity to operate power equipment.

2.         Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.

3.         Must be able to stand, crouch, and climb to use ladders and perform various types of manual labor.

REQUIRED ATTIRE

1.         Shirt required. 

2.         Steel-toed safety shoes required.

3.         Must wear personal protective equipment specific to the job, including but not limited to hearing protection and goggles, as instructed.

LIMITATIONS

1.         No employee under the age of 18 can use a chain saw.

2.         Drives Borough pickup truck for work assignments. Must be 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license to drive any borough-owned equipment.
